Ghost Town
On the western part of the
Jungar Basin is an anceint
"town" exceeding several
square kilometers, known as
"Ghost Town". In the remote
past, the area was once a
vast fresh water lake and
became land during the
orogenic movement. The deposit at bottom of the lake through a
long, long time of weathering and erosion became a fortress-like
town of about 60 sq,km known as "Ghost Town". It is an attractive
site for tourists.
Today's Ghost Town is not an empty town as it once was but a booming
Oil Town, with countless oil-drilling rigs that produce natural pitch
which is an essential material for making high-quality paint and
insulation material.
